Sadie Sink’s latest red carpet appearance was a fluttery Y2K dream. Appearing at Disney’s D23 showcase in Anaheim, California on August 14, the actress opted to pull a vintage Alexander McQueen backless slip dress from the 2004 archives. The delicate dress featured a patchwork butterfly wing design over a sheer-effect nude base. The drop waist gave way to a boho ruffled skirt. Styled by Molly Dickson, she wore the ethereal dress with clear white-tipped heels and swept her auburn hair into a low braid with face-framing pieces. As for her makeup, she rocked a magical rosy look by Yukari Obayashi Bush.

The dress was originally part of McQueen’s Deliverance line, inspired by Sydney Pollack;s 1969 film They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? and, taking inspiration from the film’s dance competition, models danced in gowns from the line on the runway.

At the event, Sink made one of her first appearances ahead of her role as Jean Grey, a mutant with telepathic abilities, in the upcoming X-Men film. She also surprised fans by debuting the role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“They told me that I was the villain, but that you’re not actually the villain, which is how I played her,” she said of the role to Variety. “I don’t really want to lean into, like this bad guy aura. Because in her brain it’s totally justified. Which I mean, I agree. I think it is.”
She added that “people had started rumors about me playing that character—for like years, it had kind of been circulating online.”
Also joining the cast are Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury.
